Teaching
My approach to teaching is always based on the individual. I have no set methodology and I treat every student as a blank canvas. The difference is, that they're the painter, I'm just someone to help guide them toward their goals.

A bit about how I learned improvisation: Most of how I learned to play the saxophone is through self-study. I had several influential one-off lessons with respective masters of music that guided overall long bouts of focus and direction on things I was working on. I've always just wanted to be able to be free when I play the Saxophone, and there are several concepts that I learned early on that helped me process and think through Harmonic choices in real time that I think are valuable to impart. Moreover, recently there are rhythmic concepts and practices I've learnt which I think are foundational to developing a deeply personal connection to the rhythmic forces within music.

The music I enjoy playing is improvised. However, I can help guide students of all ages and abilities toward honing and developing artistic identity. I do teach beginners and am happy to develop a set plan over regular sessions to guide a new learner, however, I won't provide tuition unless someone is serious about learning. Best not to waste my time and your money.

My fee for a lesson is $90. A lesson can last 1 hour or longer, I will continue a lesson until I'm sure a concept or practice is understood. If this is too expensive, or you are on a budget, please don't hesitate to let me know and we can figure something out. I'm flexible!
